The funeral will take place on December 30th in the Church of S. Maria Greca at 4.00 pm. The burial will take place on Tuesday 2 January 2024 at the Corato cemetery and will be preceded by the Holy Mass at 8.30 am in the Regina di All Saints Chaplaincy.
On December 29, Sister Assunta Marigliano serenely pronounced her last and conscious "Fiat" to the call of the Father.
Dear Sister Assunta gave a new impetus to the knowledge of Luisa Piccarreta in Corato thanks to her extraordinary strength and great spirit of self-denial.
Sister Assunta came from Naples. Initially she was a religious of the Poor Daughters of the Visitation. In 1973 she got to know the writings and message of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta.
At that time Sister Assunta was searching for a religious life more attentive to the care of the spiritual dimension. She realized that she had found what she was looking for, so she decided to leave her Institute and in October 1981 she settled in Corato.
Sister Assunta knocked on many doors with tenacity and infinite dedication. She asked for and collected testimonies about Luisa's life.
In the early years Sister Assunta was surrounded by a few souls whom she began to guide in the knowledge of the path indicated by Luisa, to walk with Jesus. Thanks to Sister Assunta we began to understand that the path of living in the Divine Will is not a path in solitude, that to associate ourselves with the acts of Jesus in living the Divine Will is also to associate with each other, is to compose a family.
On the 40th anniversary of Luisa's death, March 4, 1987, the Pious Luisa Piccarreta P.F.D.V. Association was canonically erected in Corato of which Sister Assunta was the founder and was appointed president.
May Luisa, the little daughter of the Divine Will, wait with joy on the threshold of Paradise for the soul of our dearest Sister Assunta.
