The "Yes" of Mary

Mary's "Yes" is the perfect example to imitate in order to receive and welcome Jesus who desires to dwell in us. "Behold, may what you have said be done in me", that is, "May your Will be done in me". The Word of God, in response to this response, became incarnate in Mary's breast and shared with her His human and divine nature.

From that moment, an exchange of life between Mother and Son, between the Creator and the creature, began. The same thing happens when we receive Jesus in the Eucharist; He desires to communicate Himself to us but waits for the response of our "Amen", that is "I want-I believe". Our "Amen" is linked to Mary's "Yes" and as in Mary, with our "Yes", Jesus descends into us and communicates Himself with His Humanity and Divinity, true God and true Man.

God wants to find in us His Divine Life, He gave us the gift of it with Holy Baptism, by which we became temple of the Holy Spirit (1Corinthians 6,19).  The growth of the Eucharistic life goes hand in hand with the baptismal journey. If the Amen is transformed into life, God dwells in us feeding our existence with His Grace. God's plan is unique, just as He began it in Mary from the moment of her conception, so He continues to carry it out in humanity according to His Will, always respecting our freedom because God loves us and freely wants to save and sanctify us.

God became Man to come and dwell in us and live with us!

Mary, Virgin and Mother,

you who, moved by the Holy Spirit,

welcomed the word of life

in the depths of your humble faith:

as you gave yourself completely to the Eternal One,

help us to say our own “yes”

to the urgent call, as pressing as ever,

to proclaim the good news of Jesus.

Mother of the living Gospel,

wellspring of happiness for God’s little ones,

pray for us.

Amen. Alleluia! (Evangelii Gaudium)
